Core Competencies

The Core Competencies are sets of intellectual, personal, and social emotional proficiencies that all students need in order to engage in deep, lifelong learning. These proficiencies are intentionally developed during GoingPLACES in order to help students engage in life-long, in-depth learning. 

Cross Curricular Connections
  • Critically analyze the validity of information in secondary sources and evaluate the approaches used to solve problems
  • Consider the changes in knowledge over time as tools and technologies have developed
  • Generate and introduce new or refined ideas when problem solving
  • Contribute to finding solutions to problems at a local and/or global level through inquiry
  • Achieving our learning goals requires effort and perseverance
  • Use self-assessment and reflection to develop awareness of their strengths, preferences, and skills
  • Explore volunteer and other new learning experiences that stimulate entrepreneurial and innovative thinking
  • Lifelong participation in physical activity has many benefits and is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle
